Tasting notes
Such gloss and weight in the glass, looks delicious without even the need to taste. Damsons and mulberries on the inviting and intoxicatingly addictive nose giving way to slight savoury notes of charcuterie and aged meat. Lush on the palate but still elegant, deft and yet rich at the wonderful core. Dark fruit, spice and silky-tannin in abundance with an amazing focus to the acidity that drives it forward spectacularly. Incredibly length, an absolute joy to taste already.

Cask sample. Mid crimson. Spicy on the nose. Sweet-fruited and just a hint of stems (herbal), very slight. Dry, chewy and satisfying on the palate, perhaps a little more generous than the Perrière and fresher on the finish.
The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru les Goulots is the first to be completely biodynamically farmed, although Florence told me that she only really noticed the difference apropos the color of the grapes in the 2016 vintage. It has a complex bouquet with redcurrant, cranberry and blood orange, very focused with deftly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a little meatiness/dried blood developing underneath the carapace of black fruit, white pepper and Moroccan spice towards the finish. I love the tension here, not powerful but it just has the energy you would not anticipate from such a warm season.
