Tasting notes
(12.6% alcohol): Good medium-deep red. Black cherry, licorice, minerals and a whiff of violet on the nose. Energetic but youthfully tight, conveying a strong impression of saline minerality. Finishes with building firm tannins and lovely perfumed lift. This solidly structured wine will need patience but it has the verve to evolve gracefully and last.

Dark ruby-red color. Vibrant aromas of blackberry, kirsch , violet and licorice. Supple and fine-grained if rather linear in the early going, showing more floral lift than the preceding samples. A seriously concentrated, youthfully upright wine with excellent energy and length and a firm spine of sweet tannins. The wine's medicinal reserve and impression of saline dry extract will require cellaring. In fact, compared to this wine, the Nuits Perrières is considerably more open.
This is cooler and spicier with its more elegant array of dark currant, rose petal and plum scents that are trimmed in enough wood to remark upon. The suave, round and seductively textured flavors possess a sleek muscularity and good minerality while delivering good if not excellent length on the firm finale. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
