2015 Vosne Romanee Champs Perdrix

Palish medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of red plum, raspberry, spices and wild herbs, plus a touch of leathery rusticity. On the palate the red fruit flavors are nicely accented by spices and wild herbs and enlivened by surprising acidity and tangy minerality. Like some of the preceding wines, this needs a racking.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée les Champs Perdrix was another wine from Bruno Clair that was strangely missing some fruit on the nose - most unexpected, given the growing season. The palate is better with crunchy red berry fruit, fine acidity and a welcome touch of sour cherry on the finish. Hopefully the aromatics will find their voice by the time of bottling.

(from a .93 ha parcel of 60+ year old vines). Here the equally fresh nose is more deeply pitched with its spiced plum, violet, lavender and sandalwood scents. There is terrific punch to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a bit more mid-palate stuffing with ample salinity and detail on the moderately structured and beautifully persistent finish.
