The 2015 Corton Grand Cru opens in the glass with notes of plum, candied peel and mossy forest floor, subtly framed by spicy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, supple and quite expansive, with fine but firm tannins and an open-knit, generous core of fruit, but just a touch warm and diffuse on the finish which depresses my score.

Medium red. Musky aromas of redcurrant, dried flowers, underbrush, menthol and licorice. Plush, silky and deep if a touch youthfully reduced, with its red berry, spice and earth flavors enlivened by savory minerality. A seriously mouthfilling, fine-grained wine with the stuffing and structure for a graceful evolution in bottle. A year ago, this wine was tighter than the Pommard Rugiens but today it's showing its volume. Finishes with substantial ripe, dusty tannins and excellent salty persistence.

Very tight red fruit with a touch of gloss paint on the aroma – volatile acidity? Fragrant and floral on the length. Lots of personality, though perhaps not entirely stable – hence relatively short drinking window. (RH)
