The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots wafts from the glass with brooding aromas of plums, wild berries, rich spice, orange rind and subtle game bird. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and deep, with a cool core of fruit, sappy acids and an abundance of fine-grained tannic structure. A very promising Suchots which will need time.

Good dark red. Subtle, lightly medicinal aromas of redcurrant, dark cherry, iron, tobacco and herbs. Plush, savory wine with terrific calcaire energy and lift to its darker berry and spice flavors. Delivers a rare combination of density and definition, no doubt due to the small crop and old vines here. Finishes firmly tannic and very long, with impressive sappiness for the vintage.

(100% vendange entier ): Bright red with ruby highlights. Restrained but very pure aromas of cherry, black raspberry, exotic spices and bitter chocolate. Densely packed and seamless, communicating an impression of serious depth and menthol reserve. Showing little of the early exotic appeal and almost chocolatey sweetness that has characterized this cuvée for so many years, but this classically dry Suchots finishes with compelling subtle persistence, its pungent red berry flavors accented by a minty note. Serious but nicely buffered tannins will require bottle aging, but this wine offers stunning potential.

(from a .45 ha parcel situated at the very top of the vineyard). A deft but not invisible application of wood sets off the super-spicy aromas of black cherry, cassis, plum and violet scents. The succulent, round and velvet-textured medium weight flavors that retain plenty of punch and mid-palate density and are all wrapped in a seductive, balanced and gorgeously long finish where, like several wines in the range, a hint of bitter cherry can be detected. The 2015 is yet another in a long line of great examples of the Arnoux Suchots. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
