Tasting notes
The 2015 Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos des Fôrets-Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a lovely nose with blackberry, mulberry, pressed flowers, dried herbs and a touch of wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied, fine grip, good volume and mineralité . This is quite spicy towards the finish with just a touch of curry leaf coming through with time. Just a light marine note, a hint of iodine on the aftertaste. This is drinking beautifully. Tasted at the Domaine de L’Arlot tasting at La Cabotte in London.

Quite a deep crimson still. Intense. Elderberry and redcurrant fruit on the nose. Quite assertive and muscular with sandpaper tannin still in evidence. Lots of potential here but I wouldn’t drink it for a while. (JR)
The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Fôrets Saint Georges 1er Cru is showing some reduction on the nose, although there is lovely pure red fruit tucked in just beneath. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, though nothing overly complex, and slightly grainy in texture, offering bright black fruit laced with a slight herbal note on the finish. Readers should note that this dramatically improves in the glass as the reduction ebbs away. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
(52% vendange entier ): Bright dark red. Deeply pitched aromas of smoke and soil; showing less fruit and more torrefaction today than the Suchots or Clos de l'Arlot. Then juicy, lively and youthfully tight, with a firm spine of acidity and tannins and a note of violet giving this very concentrated wine a penetrating character. Perhaps a bit less tangy and pungent than the Suchots or Clos de l'Arlot but this rather large-scaled wine boasts plenty of backbone and excellent length.
