Score 90/100 · Drink 2016-2028, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2015

Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. Slightly paler than its peers (certainly in this flight), the 2012 Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds from François Buffet has an appealing, well-defined, slightly stemmy nose, but one imbued with vivacity and a sense of nonchalance. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannin, well-judged acidity, lively and poised with a dash of white pepper on the finish. This just has bundles of personality and charm.
