Bright lemon-yellow. Flowers, minerals, white pepper and crushed stone on the nose. Sharply chiseled and penetrating in the mouth, communicating a strong impression of minerally terroir . Doesn't show the flesh or charm of the Meursault Charmes but this wine also boasts excellent density. Brisk lemony acidity is keeping the wine very closed in the early going. (Incidentally, I was unable to taste Matrot's Meursault Perrières as only a few magnums of this wine remained.)

More stony than the Meursault Charmes and not so much of that reductive character on the nose but it is there on the palate. Deep-fruited, very crisp lime citrus. (JH)

Pale, bright yellow. Lively aromas of lemon oil and white flowers. Tight and brisk in the mouth, with a lovely sugar/acid balance to the flavors of lemon, minerals and almond blossom. Boasts more energy and precision than the Charmes, with the almond flower note lifting the finish. Really conveys the vivacity of hillside vines. I did not taste the 2014 Puligny-Montrachet La Quintessence as the assemblage had not yet been made.

A lush, concentrated white, featuring peach, melon, lemon curd and mineral flavors. Intense, building to a long, saturated after-taste that picks up lime blossom, sweet spice and seashore elements. Shows terrific length on the finish. Mar 2017, www.winespectator.com, Drink: 2018-2027
