2015 Chambolle Musigny

The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny Villages comes from two parcels with an average of 65 years and sees 20% new oak. It has a nicely focused bouquet with tightly wound black cherries and blueberry fruit. It feels timid at first, although gains more intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy blackberry and raspberry fruit, grippy in the mouth and just a little "blocky" on the finish. I came away thinking a bit of stem addition might have benefited this cuvée, but still, let's see how it turns out. At the moment this lags behind the superior Vieilles Vignes.
