Score 92-94/100 · Allen Meadows, Burghound

(from .17 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines; fermented in a small 100% new wood tank). A markedly ripe and layered nose combines notes of wood, earth, sauvage and liqueur-like dark berry fruit. Once again there is excellent volume and punch to the big-bodied, concentrated and powerful flavors that brim with sappy dry extract, all wrapped in a beautifully complex and lingering finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. This is a big but balanced wine with very little of the typical austerity that typifies Clos de Vougeot in its youth. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
