Tasting notes
The 2015 Rheingau Riesling Trocken Winkel Jesuitengarten VDP Grosse Lage (GG or Grosses Gewächs) is still slightly reductive and restrained on the nose, but with concentrated yet refreshing lemon aromas, along with wild herbal flavors. This is a full-bodied, intense and well-structured Riesling that takes its time to unfold its talents. It is elegant and fresh on the palate, rather lean, though complex and reveals a nice finesse. The acidity is still pretty prominent, but shall integrate over the years of bottle ageing. The finish is pretty salty and piquant, whereas the aftertaste reveals some gooseberry flavors at the moment, indicating that the grapes surely haven't been picked too late.

Light nose. Something reminiscent of paint and the fermentation vat on the nose. Quite chewy. Not flattering and a tad rustic. Even a bit sour. (JR)
