Tasting notes
(13.8% alcohol): Bright medium ruby. Musky, high-toned aromas of black raspberry, blueberry, cola spices, licorice and herbs. Densely packed and tight-grained, conveying a slightly raw quality but also an attractive hint of sweetness to its flavors of dark berries, licorice pastille, crushed rock and herbs. Not opulent but pretty and complex. The Reynvaan vines are situated in the western part of The Rocks District. They had to be retrained after the severe frost this past winter but as the Reynvaans bury the canes, they lost relatively few vines.

More tight and backward, the 2014 Syrah In The Rocks offers notes of incense, red and black fruits, olive tapenade and spice in a rich, full-bodied, yet beautifully elegant package. It needs a few years of bottle age and will keep through 2029.
From a warmer terroir and the estate’s vineyard in The Rocks region of Walla Walla, the 2014 In the Rocks Syrah (5% Viognier) sports an inky purple color to go with flat out gorgeous notes of liquid blackberries, violets, earth and spice. Concentrated, ripe and sexy, it should knock your socks off right out of the gate, yet cruise for 15 years in the cellar.
