Tasting notes
The 2013 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is another example for the radical selection of ripe and healthy grapes during the nerve-jangling autumn of 2013. The nose displays the typical, cool, grey and smoky slate aromas of the famous site, which is mingled with precise ripe Riesling flavors and refreshing citrus aromas. Enormously juicy on the palate, but by no means opulent, too sweet or powerful, this Sonnenuhr Spätlese is remarkable and extremely delicate as well as elegant. Perfectly balanced, it finishes with a stimulating piquancy and a lingering complexity.
