At 10.5 percent alcohol only barely less buoyant than its 2014 counterpart, this very subtly sweet Spätlese is highly reminiscent of that predecessor in its greenhouse-like aromatic meld of diverse flowers and foliage against a backdrop of damp stone. A polished, soothing, subtly creamy midpalate and finish still deliver generous apple juiciness while preserving nuances of flowers and greenery.

Molitor's 2015 Riesling Wehlener Klosterberg Spätlese (Green Capsule) is very clear and aromatic on the nose and displays a very attractive nectarine aroma intermixed with reductive flinty and yeasty notes. On the palate, this is an intense, dense and mouth-filling Spätlese in the medium-sweet style. Its acidity is fine and piquant and carries the wine into a long and aromatic finish with mouth-watering salinity.
About the producer
Markus Molitor is now among the largest privately owned wine estates in the Mosel and also one of the best. With a focus on single-vineyard expressions, the estate produces between 80 and 90 different wines each vintage.
