Tasting notes
Deep lurid ruby. Spice-tinged blackberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of olive, licorice and pungent flowers. Supple, appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors gain depth with air, and a smoky mineral element adds lift and back-end cut. Velvety tannins lend gentle grip to a long, floral-driven finish that leaves a subtle spicy note behind.

Bright violet. Vibrant dark berry, violet and licorice aromas are complemented by suggestions of olive and woodsmoke. Palate-staining blackberry and bitter cherry flavors are joined by peppery spice and mineral qualities that build on the back half. Manages to be at once rich and energetic, carrying no excess fat. The very long, juicy finish is framed by harmonious tannins and leaves behind a sappy dark berry note.
The 2015 Crozes Hermitage shows how good this vintage was for the Crozes appellation. It offers gorgeous notes of plum sauce, blackberry jam, crushed rocks, pepper and violets in a medium to full-bodied, fresh, focused, impeccably balanced style. I love its fruit and this rocking effort will drink nicely in its youth and keep through 2025.
