Tasting notes
Picked from 50 year-old vines, this is almost identical in gross chemical analysis to its “regular” counterpart (which came from 30-40 year-old vines), and in fact it behaves like an enhancement of that sibling. Delicate and buoyant, it displays especially ripe white peach fruit and headily lily-like perfume in the nose as well as on a subtly creamy palate. Billowing florality, crystalline mineral impingements and luscious fruit are joined by invigorating nips of cress, cooling mint and piquancy of peach kernel and lime rind in a terrifically transparent, delicate and animated, multi-faceted finish underlain by a cantus firmus of stone.

From the oldest vines, the 2015 Felseneck Riesling Spätlese Gold Capsule is deep, very precise and smoky on the nose. On the palate, this is a pure and highly finessed Riesling with a frisky and light character, lots of salt and piquant, very stimulating acidity. This Spätlese was picked a week before the Felseneck GG Rieslings and you don't feel the residual sugar that is just analytically high.
Cask sample. F rom 50+ year old vines. Analysis is similar to the non Goldkapsel bottling but all the difference is from the plot (darker slate, apparently). Intense and very sweet and honeyed. Deeper minerality. Elegant. (JR)
