Tasting notes
Very ripe Persian melon and pear are reinforced by 70 grams of residual sugar and inform a rather soft and low-energy though alluringly lush palate. A garlanding of honeysuckle familiar from the corresponding Kabinett adds appeal, and there is just enough primary juiciness to convey some refreshment on the lusciously lingering if obviously sweet and only modestly complex finish.

Easy and fresh with simple floral flavours. Rather astringent on the end at present. (JR)
Easy and fresh with simple floral flavours. Rather astringent on the end at present. Apr 2016, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2022-2030
This delivers a gorgeous yet subdued nose of flowers, yellow peach, anise and mint. In contrast, the wine exhibits quite a rich side on the palate with ripe yet clean notes of juicy and creamy fruits, leading to a smooth finish with a touch of exotic fruits and the presence of an Auslese. This needs a decade to reach its drinking window but those patient enough will have then a beautiful Auslese-styled Riesling to enjoy over the following decades.
