Tasting notes
The 2015 Vray Croix de Gay is superb. Dark, inky and towering in its presence, the 2015 possesses magnificent concentration and stature. The flavors literally soar as the 2015 shows off its personality. Impossibly young today, the 2015 is likely to age well for years and decades. Mocha, plum, black cherry and lavender are fused in the huge, towering finish. This is a stunning, refined wine long on class and pedigree. Vray Croix de Gay is now partly owned by the Artemis Group. The 2015 Chateau Vray Croix de Gay has a modest blackberry and iodine scented bouquet, a subtle seaweed scent developing with aeration. The palate is smooth on the entry with fine tannin, a little more lactic than its peers but with fine depth, harmonious to the finish - though there is a bit of oak to be absorbed on the finish. I would have liked more sophistication and finesse to come through on this wine, because their parcels are so well located on the plateau. Hopefully it will just gain a little more complexity through its elevage. Apr 2016, www.robertparker.com
Very fine and silky with ripe tannins and beautiful fruit. Lots of of walnut, plum and chocolate character. Orange peel. Tangy acidity. Shows promise. Mar 2016, JamesSuckling.com
A direct style, with a core of plum, cherry and red licorice notes, backed by judicious toast. A light mineral echo gives this extra range. Mar 2016, James Molesworth, www.WineSpectator.com
