Tasted blind. Light, leafy aromas. Juicy fruit on the front palate. Then rather simple wet-stones sort of character. An attempt at 21st-century style? A hint of amphora? (JR)

The 2015 Franc-Mayne is powerful and dense in the glass, with plenty of dark fruit, torrefaction, chocolate and new leather character. Silky tannins and a supple feel give the wine much of its near- and medium-term appeal. Although not especially complex, the 2015 will be easy to drink and enjoy pretty much upon release.

Mid cherry red. Dark and invitingly sweet fruit. Chewy, generous, full of pleasure but with the structure to age gracefully. Fresh on the finish. (JH)
