The 2006 Rosso di Montalcino is a rich, voluptuous wine bursting with dark fruit. This round, opulent Rosso offers tons of depth in a harmonious style. Despite the wine's richness, there is more than enough structure underneath to suggest that the wine will continue to drink beautifully for a number of years. The 2006 Rosso was aged in equal parts casks and medium-size barrels. It is a superb effort from Pian dell'Orino.

Despite the wine’s richness, there is more than enough structure underneath to suggest that the wine will continue to drink beautifully for a number of years. The 2006 Rosso was aged in equal parts casks and medium-size barrels. It is a superb effort from Pian dell’Orino. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2014. This is a thrilling set of wines from Pian dell’Orino, a small estate owned by Caroline Pobitzer and Jan Hendrik Erbach. The winery sits next to Biondi-Santi, in the heart of Montalcino. A total of six hectares of organically farmed vineyards also includes plots in the southern part of the Brunello zone.
