The delicacy and lightness of touch that characterise all of Julie and Baptiste Guinaudeau’s wines is appealingly apparent here. Floral and fine with raspberry and redcurrant fruit, a touch of oak and silky tannins. Bordeaux meets Bourgogne Rouge. Apr 2016, www.timatkin.com, Drink: 2019-2026
17/20 - 85% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc picked 2 weeks later on 9 and 10 October. Brooding crimson. Beautiful fragrance. Beautiful structure. Very exuberant and yet fresh too. Clean and bright. Complete. Long. Juicy. Likely to be VGV. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2020-2027
The 2015 Grand Village is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc picked between the September 20 and October 10. It has a fragrant cranberry and raspberry coulis scented bouquet that has ample fruit concentration. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, crisp acidity, harmonious in the mouth with a touch of graphite on the finish. This is one of the best Grand Village that I have tasted from barrel.
