2015 Vieux Chateau Palon

The 2015 Vieux Château Palon is a plush, seductive wine. Super-ripe black cherry, chocolate, spice, cloves and new leather all flesh out effortlessly. Succulent fruit and soft, polished tannins add considerable appeal. This is a racy, highly expressive wine, especially for Montagne Saint-Émilion, where the wines are often more rustic.

Inky blue/purplish stone fruits, leather, licorice and sweet spices give the 2015 Palon much of its immediacy. Those qualities are best enjoyed sooner rather than later. This is a strong showing from Vieux Château Palon, a small, five hectare property in Montagne Saint-Emilion.

The 2015 Vieux Château Palon has a well-defined and crisp bouquet with perfumed black cherries and red plum fruit, the oak well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, real substance here and a lovely, caressing, licorice-tinged finish that has plenty of energy. Modern in style, well crafted and long, this is a delicious Montagne Saint Emilion.
