This is really incredible with so much fruit and structure. Tannic and rich. Mind-blowing. Almost pure Merlot and amazing for it. Half a hectare and 6,000 bottles made. 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.

De Boüard consults. Silly heavy bottle. Sweet cocoa impression on the front palate. Very polished tannins until a rather drying end. Hard work for now! Bitter finish. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2023-2030

The 2015 Maillet is deep in color. The nose offers macerated dark cherries intermingling with vanilla and blueberries that is powerful, if missing the delineation of some of the top Pomerol crus. The palate is full-bodied with grainy tannin. There is a lot of extraction here, a little coarse in texture with dense black cherries and mulberry on the finish. Not a bad Pomerol by any means, although it does miss some sophistication and breeding. Apr 2016, www.robertparker.com
