The 2013 Nahe Riesling Bockenauer Felseneck "GG" is untamed but pure, precise, spicy-vegetal and flinty on the nose. Very juicy and piquant on the palate, this is a pure, well-balanced and super precise Riesling that still has a bit of baby fat. It's an expressive and aromatic Felseneck with great aging potential. (From my rediscovered archive; tasted in February 2015.)

I do keep mentioning the early herbaceous exuberance of spontaneous fermentation in Fröhlich’s Grosse Gewächse, as it would be unfair not give the whole picture, but with regard to the Felsenberg, minerality is the true essence of this wine. Even the simple translation of rock’s edge transmits an accurate reflection of its compact slatey-flinty expression, but far from just dust between the teeth, the taster is also treated to some concentrated lime and grapefruit flavours, pith, peel and all. Rugged contours, well-toned body, intellectual appeal. (MS)
