Vivid red. High-pitched red berry, lavender and Asian spice aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a mineral element with aeration. Juicy and fine-grained, offering intense raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that turn sweeter and deeper with air. In a graceful style, with no rough edges. Shows excellent finishing clarity; silky, even tannins shape a penetrating finish that leaves a sexy floral pastille note behind.

Lightish cherry red. A little more intensely fruited than the Chiroubles and a light note of vanilla sweetness although the fruit is darker in character. The texture here reveals the terroir – dry finesse of granite, here with a light touch. Less flirtatious than the Chiroubles, more contemplative but still delicious. Very long. (JH)

The 2014 Fleurie Bel Air has a little more fruité than the Chiroubles, with light flinty notes infusing the red cherry fruit. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry with rather angular and slight bitter red fruit. At least the finish exhibits decent structure and yet it does not quite "sing" like the best Fleurie that I have encountered this year.

1 ha vines in this lieu-dit. First vintage. Polished and actually very floral on the nose. Pretty and juicy. Very fine tannins indeed. Real race. (JR)
