The 2015 La Louvière Blanc feels conservative on the nose, showing quite a bit of SO2 and new oak, rather than terroir, driving the aromas. Attractive, but not an intellectual proposition. The palate is rounded on the entry, offering Conference pear and red apple notes and good depth, but just a little monotone toward the finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

The white from Château La Louviere is where it’s at. Notes of Meyer lemons, caramelized orange peel, and brioche emerge from the 2015 Château La Louvière Blanc and it’s a medium-bodied, fresh, vibrant Graves Blanc I’d happily drink anytime over the coming 3-4 years, and it will probably keep longer. While I wasn’t able to get the retail price, I suspect it’s a smoking value.
A racy style, with delicious yellow apple, white peach and verbena notes leading to a long, straw-accented finish. The underlying richness is tantalizing for future development. Mar 2016, James Molesworth, www.WineSpectator.com
About the producer
Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
