The 2015 L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne has a more understated bouquet for this super cuvée with beautifully defined, very pure honeyed fruit laced with orange pith and tinned apricot. The palate is exquisitely balanced with perfect acidity, gentle and caressing, not a flamboyant Barsac but so precise and pixelated. Wonderful.

One of the most plush, flamboyant wines of the year, the 2015 Doisy-Daëne L' Extravagant lives up to its name. Apricot jam, coconut, crème brulée, spice and exotic white flowers meld together in a Sauternes of exquisite beauty. This is a gorgeous wine from the late Denis Dubourdieu.

Doisy-Daëne 2015 L' Extravagant is fabulous. Deep, seamless and striking in the glass, the 2015 possesses superb richness and intensity, yet it also remains surprisingly light on its feet, one of the signatures of the best 2015 Sauternes. Coconut, tropical fruit, chamomile and sweet spices take shape, but, as always, it is the wine's texture and plush feel that make the deepest impression. Simply put, the 2015 is pure class. Denis Dubourdieu crafted two gorgeous Sauternes in 2015. L'Extravagant is one of the wines of the vintage.

The 2015 L'Extravagant de Doisy Daene has a powerful, intense but very pure bouquet laden with acacia honey, peach and quince, yet very defined and not at all overwhelming - remarkable given the richness locked into this Sauternes. The palate is medium-bodied with sensual, rounded, honeyed fruit, plenty of botrytis as you would expect, but leavened with a keen line of acidity. The finish offers peach and nectarine mixed with wild honey and a dash of spice to complete a fabulous wine from Denis Dubourdieu.
