Notably dark crimson. Rather meaty and compelling. Some sweet oak on the nose. Middle of the road but a good try. Quite dry on the end. Apr 2016, www.JancisRobinson.com, Drink: 2022-2028
The 2015 Caronne Saint Gemme has a pleasant, estuarine-scented bouquet. Think about swigging a decent Cabernet out of mudflats just after the tide has gone out, the tang of salt in the air. The palate is medium-bodied and balanced, but the oak needs to be better integrated and leaves a bit too much powdered cocoa on the finish. Let's hope that this will be absorbed during elevage.
