The 2015 Bélair-Monange has a straight-laced bouquet compared to its peers, with black plum, wild strawberry fruit, mint and mahogany bureau aromas. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins. There is a sense of symmetry that I really appreciate. It's very focused with a healthy dab of black pepper toward the finish. This just needs time. Tasted blind at the 2015 Bordeaux Ten-Year-On tasting at Farr Vintners.

Tasted blind. Shaded ruby. Hint of old socks on the nose. Astringent finish and strong yeast extract (Marmite) on the palate. Ungracious. Alcohol and drying tannins on the end. But more fruit than basic St-Émilions. Unappetising. (JR)

Chalky tannins, crushed rose petal aromatics, graphite, saffron, gunsmoke, raspberry and redcurrant, a ton of grip and character. Perhaps not quite the soaring precision you find in this estate today, but hard to argue with and plenty to love. Christian and Edouard Moueix owners.
