The 2015 Aile d'Argent Blanc has a lively, quite fresh bouquet with scents of pear, melon and touches of yellow flowers; there is plenty of energy here. The palate is well balanced with a spicy, lemongrass-tinged opening, not deep or voluminous but displaying a pleasant sharpness toward the finish. Enjoy this over the next decade, or possibly more. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

Tasted blind. Mid straw. Light, green-fruit and lanolin nose. Good fruit impact on the palate and real vivacity. Long and very lively and youthful. Lemon cough sweets. (JR)

55% Sauvignon Blanc, 43% Sémillon, 2% Muscadelle. Yield 37 hl/ha. 8,500 vines/ha. 34% skin contact for 12-18 hours. 7% malolactic conversion. Aged in 225-litre French oak barriques (45% new) for nine months. Cream, natural yoghurt, wax and a little hint of honey. Lovely grainy texture with long persistence and soft acidity. Finishes with a heavy step, but it isn’t overweight by any means. Yet there is perhaps just a little lack of zing, and I’d prefer to drink this young, I think. (RH)
