The 2013 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru, incidentally the first to be closed under Diam, has a fragrant nose with green apple, dried peach, pear, crushed rock and a subtle yet attractive resinous, almost linseed note. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, approaching full maturity but clearly with a long life ahead. I adore how this builds in the mouth. Very saline on the aftertaste. Superb.

(ready to bottle): Bright, light yellow. Aromas of lemon drop, pineapple and wet stone. Dense and sappy but not austere, showing serious thickness of texture to its urgent flavors of peach, pineapple and minerals. Finishes firm and extremely long but without obvious phenolic character. This is 2010-like in quality but not at all hard. (I will wait to taste the Montrachet in finished form as it had just been racked into tank at the end of May and was extremely reduced. This huge--13.2% natural alcohol--but more phenolic wine boasts outstanding concentration but will clearly require extended cellaring.)

Not much nose. Very rich and smoky. Really dense and it’s all texture rather than flavour at the moment. It opens out on the end. Structure. (JR)

(from a one-year-old barrel that had finished its malo): Pale, bright yellow. Aromas of peach fuzz and crushed stone lifted by a floral topnote. Bright acidity enlivens and intensifies the wine's peach and mineral flavors, giving it a very light touch. Finishes refined and very long, with lovely lingering perfume.
