Score 97/100 · James Halliday, Sep 2016

Here 15% whole bunches and 3% co-fermented Riesling give the wine the individuality it has enjoyed unchanged for 25 years. The wine remains undisturbed for the 3 years it spends in new French oak. Grains of Paradise is all about severe black fruits, this is all about red fruits (well, mainly red) and finesse. Balance and length is shared by both wines.

28 months in 100% new French barriques. Powerful, rich and grainy with a potent fruitiness that keeps the oak in check. A tour de force that is not for the faint-hearted! (RH)
