The Vale is the old shiraz grenache blend but re-named to give extra focus to the fact that this really speaks loudly of place rather than grapes. The aromas are made of layers and layers of different forest berries, red to blue to purple tones, there's also dark plum and liquorice as well as sweetly fragrant baking spices. The palate has an intriguing mix of rich dark fruit flesh and seemingly weightless balance, tannins are fine and hold long but never heavy, superb. (Feb 2016) , www.jamessuckling.com, Drink now.
