Good dark red. Aromas of blackberry and chocolate. Slightly peppery dark berry flavors show modest flesh but good cut and penetration. Finishes with lingering, slightly dry-edged black fruit flavors and a firm tannic spine.

(my sample was taken from a new barrel, but the final blend will be about one-third new oak): Good deep red-ruby color. Musky, very reduced aromas of blackberry and coffee. Very rich, fine-grained, supple and sweet; seriously concentrated village wine with strong saline minerality, but dominated today by coffee and mocha reduction notes. Finishes with substantial plush but rather muscular tannins. Tremblay told me that her Vosne villages is never an airy style. She won't bottle this wine until next July, as it "always changes at the end."
This sample is new oak but that comprises just 20% of the final wine. Lots of oak and really concentrated fruit. Impressive. But just as well the oak won’t be as evident in the final wine. (JR)
