Score 90/100 · Drink 2018-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Bellegrave has a conservative, you could almost say predictable bouquet, one that is well defined with stony, black fruit, hints of smoke and truffle. The palate is well balanced with fine tannin, lovely delineation and focus, an extremely nuanced Pomerol that expresses that enclave of gravel soil in the western flank of the appellation. There is very astute winemaking here, a beautifully crafted Pomerol from the western flank of the appellation that will age with style.

The 2014 Bellegrave is a delicate, midweight wine that shows the more perfumed side of Pomerol. Bright red cherry fruit, rose petal, mint and sweet spice, along with silky tannins, yield a wine that can be enjoyed with minimal cellaring.

Masses of relatively simple fruit in a skein of acidity. Really quite uncomfortable to taste. Falls away fast. (JR)
