The 2013 Rosso di Montalcino is a dark, intense wine, yet it very much shows the mid-weight, classically austere style that is often found in this vintage. Crushed flowers, tobacco, dried cherry and savory herbs are all nicely delineated in the glass. I would suggest drinking the 2013 sooner rather than later, as the fruit is beginning to fade.

Valdicava's 2013 Rosso di Montalcino is full of floral and dark red/purplish stone fruit notes. The freshness of the year comes through in the wine's aromatic complexity and nuance. The finessed, long finish is particularly of note. I tasted the 2013 from steel just prior to bottling.
