90% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot. 12 months in 12-hl casks. Bright red. Correct but still very taut and rather inexpressive for now. (JR)

Maurizia Di Napoli's 2013 Chianti Classico was released in May (much earlier than usual) to make up for shortages of the 2012 vintage. This is a beautiful expression of Sangiovese with fine tannins and tight consistency. The wine shows the elegance and the sharp focus that is the hallmark of this stunning property in Panzano-in-Chianti. The wine is 90% Sangiovese with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Rampolla's 2013 Chianti Classico is dark, sensual and inviting. Sweet red cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and tobacco flesh out in a pliant Chianti Classico that offers both plenty of fruit and structure. Ideally, readers should cellar the 2013 for at least another year to allow the full breadth of flavors and textures to open up. The style is rich, intense and powerful to the core. In other words; classic Rampolla.
