Tasting notes
Tasted blind at the 10-Year On Tasting in Sauternes. The 2005 Château Romer du Hayot has a very reduced nose and feels cloying and simple on the palate. This is below par and I think they've made better wines since this vintage.

Pale gold. Exotic aromas of marzipan and sexy, nutty oak. Sweet, rich and a bit youthfully aggressive, with fairly powerful, oily flavors of peach, nuts, vanilla, marzipan and spices. Finishes with a distinctly sugary quality and moderate nuance.
Lightly honeyed nose. Lovely texture. Not especially intensely sweet but lovely balance. Great, neat acidity. Nice wine for relatively early drinking. (JR)
