The 2014 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château has a delightful red cherry and crushed strawberry nose with plenty of joie de vivre. The palate is well balanced with crisp tannin, a little hardness on the entry but that will ebb away with time. Fine structure on the finish with dried orange peel, enjoy this over the next 6-8 years. Just a delightful village cru from start to finish. Tasted November 2016.

(bottled in October of 2015): Medium red color. A bit more diffuse on the nose than the Colomière, offering scents of strawberry and smoky underbrush. Shows similarly slightly decadent flavors in the mouth, conveying an impression of evolution and lacking the lift of the vintage's better examples. This would appear best for early drinking, although Louis-Michel Liger-Belair noted that he thought the same thing about the 2004 version in 2006 and that wine is still alive today.
(bottled in September): Good medium red. Musky, high-toned aromas of raspberry and chocolate are a bit less precise than those of the Colomière. Shows less lift than the Colomière; comes across as a bit diffuse and even autumnal but with plenty of black fruit flavor. Turns a little dry and salty on the back.
The 2014 Vosne-Romanée Clos du Château, which is 100% destemmed, has more red fruit than the 2014 Colombières -- raspberry coulis, pressed flowers, quite nuanced with nicely integrated new oak. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, edgy and fresh with good tension interwoven from start to finish, and a tang of spice on the aftertaste.
