2014 Puligny Montrachet Les Perrieres

Cool and calm on the nose. Much more expressive than the village Puligny 2014 from this cellar. Solid rather than stolid. There’s even a slight suggestion of heat on the end. But it’s still very youthful. (JR)

The 2014 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Perrières is backward, minerally and aloof on the nose, but give it a couple of minutes in the glass and it reveals some lovely lime flower and wet granite scents. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, lively from start to finish, so vivacious in the mouth that you think it is compensating for the backward aromatics. It fans out wonderfully on the finish that shimmers with energy. This is a sublime expression of the vineyard.

Bright pale yellow. Expressive scents of yellow peach, soft citrus fruits and stone. Bright, tight and savory, showing lovely mineral energy in the middle palate. A step up in concentration, complexity and verve from the Champs-Canet, with a firm spine of acidity carrying the palate-staining finish. This should age well.
