Tasting notes
Good medium red. Aromas of dark fruits, licorice and menthol. Powerful, dense wine with a restrained sweetness to its youthfully brooding flavors of dark fruits and minerals. At this point in our tasting, Clavelier noted that the 2014s are in a closed stage now. But this wine finishes rich and long, with suave tannins.

Healthy bright, dark red. Very dark aromas of blackberry, licorice and mint. Conveys an impression of tiny-berry concentration but comes across as extremely primary and imploded today, with strong acidity and serious mouthcoating tannins currently keeping the fruit under wraps. Combines Vosne-side flowers and structure with the forest fruits of Nuits-Saint-Georges. This is 13. 5% alcohol; Clavelier told me he chaptalized a negligible 0. 2% just to prolong the fermentation. This wine will require patience.
The 2014 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras has the most opulent and potentially most seductive of Bruno Clavelier's 2014s, just a subtle peppermint scent developing with time. The palate is smooth and silky, very Vosne-Romanée-like in style, caressing the mouth with a very pure finish with a dash of white pepper sprinkled over the top. This exploits this great premier cru with style and panache, and should be one of Bruno's finest offerings once in bottle.
