Drink 2016, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Apr 2016
The 2014 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru was one of the few reds from barrel that was showing just a touch of reduction on the nose. The palate is chewy on the entry with good weight, tightly wound and quite muscular, though I would be seeking more weight and persistence on the finish. I will reserve judgement for now.

Bright red. Serious but closed nose hints at smoked meat. Thick and superconcentrated but a bit youthfully brutal and wild today, showing more saline and coffee character than primary fruits. All in reserve right now, this very savory wine will need a long time in bottle to reveal itself. The tannins are a bit aggressive in the early going.
