(40% new oak; most of these vines are 65 years old): Deep aromas of red cherry, dried flowers and rose petal suggest a substantial wine. A step up in material from the Morey-Saint-Denis Clos des Ormes, with ripe, integrated acidity giving shape to the flavors of red raspberry, cherry, flowers and saline minerality. The Lignier holding in is a lower, relatively protected spot in this vineyard, according to Benoît Stehly, and this wine is nicely rich and deep for the vintage. Offers good energy without any hardness and finishes with ripe tannins and lingering perfume.
Light crimson. Delicately scented and finely fragrant with delicious dark-red fruit. Then more savoury and spiced on the palate. This has really good intensity even though it is relatively light-bodied. Long and scented to the end. Savoury aftertaste makes it more complete. (JH)

Domaine Georges Lignier has a long history stretching back to the 20th century. Georges – a cousin to Hubert Lignier – set out to establish the finest and most important domaine in Morey-Saint-Denis.
