Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting, the 2014 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from Follin-Arbelet is showing some reduction on the nose. That dissipates a little with time in the glass, revealing spicy, stem ginger aromas. The palate is rather toffee-ish and feels a little advanced considering its youth. It comes across as pretty, if for a grand cru missing some substance and complexity on the finish.

Fresh yet with excellent drive. Creamy texture. Quite chewy on the end. Admirably long though without much flavour definition yet. (JR)
