Moderately saturated bright dark red. Pristine, precise scents of blackberry, dark cherry, violet and crushed-rock minerality. Densely packed and sharply delineated; silky if not exactly fleshy and in need of time in bottle to blossom. Wonderfully pure flavors of dark berries, flowers, licorice and bitter chocolate. Finishes with suave, broad tannins and terrific mounting juicy persistence.

Bright, dark red. Lovely high-pitched perfume of black raspberry, rose petal, violet, cocoa powder and blood orange. Wonderfully sappy and intense, showing highly concentrated if youthfully imploded purple fruit and mineral flavors edged by herbs and licorice. The yield here was just 22 hectoliters per hectare due to hail, according to Gros. This brilliantly pure wine may be even better than my range suggests.

The 2014 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is more expressive and open on the nose compared to the Echézeaux with dark cherries, blueberry and blackcurrant scents that are succinct and detailed. There is more fruité here at the moment and well defined. The palate is knitted together nicely by the veneer of new oak, but underneath is plenty of mineral-rich, black fruit. This is a structured Clos Vougeot, just a tad introspective but very nicely focused with an elegant, quite sustained finish. This is one of the best Clos de Vougeot that I came across during my tastings.

Intense, expressive, concentrated nose. Dark purple. Rich and juicy. Very exciting and well integrated. Savoury and lively. Very low yield in 2014 but for her the 2015 was relatively abundant. (JR)
