Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2017-2032, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2015

The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tête du Clos has another rich and lively bouquet like the 2014 Baudines adorned with orange zest, citrus fruit, coconut and mango scents all vying for attention. Perhaps it would benefit from more control, but then it would be half the fun. The palate is underpinned by a quite piercing acidity counterbalanced by rich, lightly honeyed fruit. It's a bit like dialing the guitar amp to "11" à la Spinal Tap...any why not?

Inviting, somewhat reduced aromas of peach, ginger, flowers and flinty minerality. Dry, layered and rich, with strong mineral-driven acidity accentuating the wine's saline character. Very dense, broad, serious wine with a strong rocky underpinning. These vines are between 60 and 70 years of age and produced less than 25 hectoliters per hectare, according to Leroux, who suggests drinking this wine within 18 months after bottling or forgetting about it in the cellar for seven or eight years.
