Subdued but nuanced scents of lime, dusty stone and menthol. Sweet and sappy in the mouth, conveying superb energy to the sharply chiseled flavors of ripe pear, lime, pineapple and white pepper. An element of crushed stone contributes to the wine's austerity on the back end, but this is a classic, adamantly dry 2014 with terrific flavor intensity and length.

The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru la Romanée was showing more fruit intensity than the Caillerets when I tasted it from barrel, hints of citrus peel, Mirabelle and jasmine gently wafting from the glass. The palate is crisp and taut with the edginess of the Boudriotte, demonstrating the same weight and intensity on the finish that is long and satisfying. This is a harmonious, engaging and “complete” Chassagne-Montrachet.

Pale yellow. More exotic on the nose than the Caillerets, offering scents of pineapple, orange juice, honey and sexy oak. Plush and sweet in the mouth, showing a glyceral richness but less cut than the Caillerets as the wine's substantial acidity has not yet integrated with its fruit. Finishes minerally, classically dry and long. Fontaine may give this wine a longer elevage .
