Tasting notes
Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, J-F Mugnier's 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Fuées has quite a brisk and airy bouquet with lifted red cherries and strawberry notes, although it does not quite deliver the complexity of Ghislaine-Barthod's Les Fuées that was served in the same flight. The palate is quite oaky on the entry that obscures the terroir and renders the finish rather generic. There is a fine wine here, but it might need longer to knit together than some of its vineyard classmates. Tasted September 2017.

Medium red. Complex, slightly exotic aromas of raspberry, cherry, red licorice, minerals and smoky underbrush. Saline and classically dry on the palate, with nicely integrated acidity giving the wine a rather suave texture. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and lingering notes of earth and dried herbs.
Light-medium red. Strawberry plus a meaty nuance on the nose. Silky and savory in the mouth, with redcurrant, raspberry and strawberry fruit flavors accented by spices. The lightly saline finish displays plush tannins and very good breadth.
