Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2038, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2017

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru has a very classic bouquet, leaning more towards black fruit here, touches of slate and flint in the background, blackberry and raspberry preserve gaining intensity in the glass. There is less of the undergrowth scents that I noticed out of barrel. The palate is smooth and silky, perhaps a little more sorbet-like in character à la 2015, gently building to quite a sweet, candied orange peel and Asian spice tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is showing great promise. Tasted November 2016.

Good bright red. Lovely floral high tones to the aromas of red cherry, raspberry and crushed stone. Precise and light on its feet, offering excellent precision to its intense flavors of raspberry jelly, minerals and flowers. The juicy finish features suave tannins and lovely subtle persistence.

(made from the younger vines of Musigny): Bright medium red. High-pitched aromas of red berries and flowers. Juicy and taut; a precise, gripping midweight with classic limestone energy to its red fruit and crushed stone flavors. the restrained sweetness is nicely countered by the wine's mineral-driven energy. Finishes with dusty tannins and subtle rising persistence.

The intensely floral-suffused nose reveals notes of lavender, rose petal and lilac along with plenty of spice elements on the mostly red berry fruit aromas. There is notably more volume to the equally pure medium weight plus flavors that positively vibrate with energy and minerality before culminating in a harmonious and beautifully well-balanced finale. This really builds from the mid-palate as the finish is sneaky long. (Jan 2016) www.burghound.com Drink 2024+
