Score 89/100 · Drink 2018-2027, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Jun 2017

The 2014 Chambolle-Musigny Villages has a crisp, marine influenced bouquet all with fine delineation, a mixture of red and black fruit that unfurl in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with good salinity and grip on the entry, quite structured with good backbone, leaning almost to a Morey Saint Denis-like classicism towards the lightly spiced finish. This should drink well over the next 6-8 years. Tasted November 2016.

Good medium red. Musky aromas of black raspberry, smoke and minerals, plus a whiff of game. Juicy but not especially high-pitched, offering scents of redcurrant, raspberry, tobacco and milk chocolate Substantial ripe tannins showing today. Here's a village wine that will need time in bottle.

Healthy deep red. Very dark aromas of black cherry, cassis, violet and licorice, along with a touch of reduction. Supple in texture but a strong edge of acidity gives this wine a sweet/tart quality. The brooding purple fruit flavors will need time to show more personality. A firmly structured village wine.

Very intense nose. Then juicy and lighter on the palate than the nose suggests. Polished and savoury. Lightly muscular. Light chew on the end. Very ambitious for a village wine. (JR)
